Raymond Richard Kopp April 4, 1940 – March 13, 2026

Raymond Richard Kopp, 85, of Crystal Lake, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026. He was born on April 4, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois to Arthur and Frances (née Straube) Kopp.

Raymond earned a degree in Civil Engineering from Marquette University and built a long and respected career with Oliver Hoffman Incorporated in Naperville, Illinois. He was a man of integrity who took pride in his work and was known for his steady commitment to doing things the right way.

He and his beloved wife, Marilyn, raised their family in Schaumburg, Illinois, where they were devoted members of St. Marcelline Catholic Church. In 2004, Raymond and Marilyn moved to Crystal Lake and became active members of St. Thomas Catholic Church. His faith was a constant source of strength and guidance throughout his life.

Above all, Raymond and Marilyn placed family at the center of their lives. Raymond especially enjoyed reminiscing about his own childhood — sharing stories of growing up on Winnemac Avenue in Chicago, the closeness of his extended family, and good times spent at his grandparents’ vacation home on Paddock Lake in Wisconsin. Whether gathered around the dinner table, celebrating milestones, or enjoying time together on the water, family was always his greatest priority. Raymond found particular joy sailing on Lake Michigan with family and friends — a reflection of his love for good company, open horizons, and life’s simple pleasures.

Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilyn Catherine Schultheis Kopp, who passed away in November 2017.

He is survived by his five children and their spouses: Michael and Kellanne Kopp; Thomas and Karen Kopp; Kristine and Richard Provenzano; Kathleen and Gregory Krause; and Karin and John

Marshall. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of deep pride and joy in his life.
