Raymond A. Maslanka

Raymond Andrew Maslanka, of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully November 27, 2022  just 3 days short of his 90th birthday.

Ray was a successful executive at Kool-Aid, General Foods and Alberto Culver for over 40 years, living in  Delaware, New York , Mexico City and Illinois. He and his belated wife were world wide travelers, traveling to Poland to track their roots, going on a safari in Africa and Cruising the Rivers through Europe.

Ray loved to read and listen to Barbara Streisand, Tony Bennett  and Willie Nelson to name a few of his favorites and he liked nothing more than to end the day with a bowl of ice cream.  He collected antique clocks for the past 50 years.  He has over 30 clocks that chime at slightly different times and the oldest one is from the 1830’s.  He was a wonderful Father.  He was smart and funny and played to win at every game we ever played! My Mom often called him a “hot  head” because he was stubborn and persistent.  But he was also very gentle and caring and he took very good care of his family.  He loved his “sweet Char” for 63 years of marriage and my greatest comfort is knowing they are together once again.

He is survived by his sister Diane (Maslanka) Svoboda; daughter Deb (Maslanka) Wilkerson; and 5 grandsons, Tim (Wilkerson) and Madelyn Wilkime,
Jason Wilkerson, Eric Oberfranc, Peter Wilkerson and Kyle Oberfranc.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Stella (Tram) and Joseph Maslanka; sister Connie (Maslanka) Kohout; wife, Charlotte (Kieliszewski) Maslanka; and daughter, Kathy (Maslanka) Oberfranc.

Visitation will be Monday December 5th, at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church at 1023 McHenry Ave in Crystal Lake from  9:30 am until mass at 11:00 am.  Immediately following will be a luncheon at Biaggi’s Italian Restaurant at 1524 South Randall Road, Algonquin.  Burial will be private.
