Raymond Jon Peterson

Raymond Jon Peterson, 71, of Barrington, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026 in Hawaii. He was born on December 3, 1954 to Robert and Carolyn (nee Prince) Peterson in St. Louis, Missouri.

After graduating from the University of Tulsa in 1977, he began a successful career, primarily working in technology sales. Ray loved to work and was a mentor to many. Over the years, he built lasting relationships and earned the respect of colleagues and clients through his natural ability to connect and genuine interest in the lives of others. He retired with Dell Technologies and often referred to it as one of the best runs of his career. So many of the relationships he built became true, lifelong friendships.

Ray was a devoted and deeply caring family man who took great pride in the people he loved. He was a trailblazer for the ‘Girl Dad’s’ of today. Coaching softball, attending dance recitals, soccer and lacrosse games, cheering for the cheerleaders at the football games and just supporting and being there for all of his children in whatever way they needed.

Ray had a big personality and never met a stranger. He had a love for life that spread to those around him. He traveled to Hawaii multiple times in his adult life and fell in love with all that Hawaii offers: paradise here on earth. He loved nothing more than showing people what and who he loved and he accomplished that over and over again.

Ray found enjoyment in the simple pleasures of life, especially spending time outdoors. Whether golfing, tending to his garden or working in the yard, he always appreciated being outside. He was devoted sports fan. The St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bears were his top two teams.

Ray is survived by his loving wife Courtney (nee Condill), whom he married on September 17, 2016 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Barrington; Linda Peterson the mother of his girls, Lindsay, Lisa and Stephanie Peterson and Grady (Madison) Condill; grandchildren; Brock James and Callan James; siblings, Doreen (Scott Mummert) Oleszczuk, Ed (Angie Mascari) Peterson and Jim (Janet) Peterson; as well as countless loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Ryan Peterson and cousin, Ken Peterson.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 with a visitation beginning at 3 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington, IL 60010.
