Richard "Rick" Molitor

Richard Molitor, known to family and friends as Rick, passed away on April 9, 2026. He was a lifelong resident of Cary, Illinois and had a distinguished, long career, supporting United Airlines Network Operations. He also worked for Discover Financial until his retirement in 2016.

Rick was born in Evanston, Illinois on November 24, 1950, to Joseph and Lorraine (Herring) Molitor. He spent most of his life living on the Fox River, a place he truly loved. Growing up just two houses away from where he and his partner Karen would later build their home in 2002, making that connection to home even more meaningful.

Rick and Karen Williamson were married on Maui in 2005. He had a passion for adventure and outdoor fun that she shared. He loved Saturday morning breakfast with the boys, snowmobiling on the Wisconsin North Woods Trails, Sunday country Harley rides, boating through the Chain of Lakes and taking his godsons tubing. Once retired, Rick and Karen traveled extensively and spent winters in Fort Myers where he loved to golf and fish with best buddies. His family and friends remember him as a man of great integrity, kindness and generosity, who was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, siblings Carl Molitor, Julie (John) Martens, and Eileen (Karl) Dyon.

He was preceded in death by his son, Merrick Molitor, and his parents, Joe and Lorraine Molitor.
