Richard “Dick” H. Ruske, 92, of Spring Grove, passed away on May 10, 2023. He was born in Chicago on October 4, 1930 to Herman and Charlotte (Pacer) Ruske.
Dick was a veteran of the United State Marine Corps and was a proud firefighter for thirty years with the Evanston Fire Department.
He loved fishing with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and especially sharing his joy of walleye fishing in his beloved Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Dick also enjoyed creating holiday gift items in his woodshop.
Dick is survived by his wife of 72 ½ years, Shirley (nee Seyrek); children, Paul Ruske, Nancy (the late Donald) Browning, Gary (Elizabeth) Ruske, Laura (Karl) Barber, and Judith (Ronald) Krause; grandchildren, Michael (Melissa) Browning, Chris (Laura) Browning, Jaime (Kacey) Browning, Matthew (Taylor) Ruske, Lucas Ruske, Kyle Barber, Adam Barber, Emmalee Barber, Nicholas (Janey) Krause, Jayson (Berklee) Krause, Angela (Heath) Barkley; great grandchildren, Skyler, Jaden, Kiley, Kolton, Ryelee, and Parker Browning, Gabriel, Samuel, and Vivian Krause, and Avery Barkley.
Along with his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Wiley and Shirley Ruske; and his great grandson, Owen Krause.
A visitation will be held on Monday, May 15, from 4pm until 8pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Visitation will continue Tuesday, May 16, from 10:30am until a funeral at 11:30am at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
