Rita McGregor, 75, of Lake Zurich, Illinois, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026. She was born on April 29, 1951, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Lewis and Lois Rockmore.
Rita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend whose kindness, faith, and love for her family touched the lives of all who knew her. She found great joy in singing, cooking, and sewing, and she especially loved collecting kitchen utensils and recipes. Rita was always eager to try a new dish or share a favorite family recipe with those she loved.
Her faith was an important part of her life. Rita enjoyed attending church, participating in Women’s Bible Study, and spending time in fellowship with her church family. She also enjoyed taking short trips to Indiana and Wisconsin, finding happiness in simple adventures and time spent with loved ones.
One of Rita’s greatest blessings was the enduring love she shared with her husband, Leslie. Childhood sweethearts, they were together for six years before marrying and shared 55 years of marriage filled with love, faith, commitment, and devotion. Their relationship was a testament to lasting love and partnership, and together they built a family that became the center of Rita’s world.
Above all else, Rita cherished her family. Nothing brought her greater joy than being a grandmother. She treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and took pride in celebrating their accomplishments, encouraging their dreams, and creating lasting memories with them.
Rita is survived by her loving husband, Leslie R. McGregor, Sr.; her children Les McGregor, Jr (Tara McGregor), Lynnise McGregor, and Angela Theal (Eric Theal); her beloved grandchildren Jayden & Chloe McGregor, Ellion Ballew, Donovan McGregor, and Ivory and Grayson Theal; and her sisters, Barbara Kirkpatrick and Debra Rockmore.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Lois Rockmore, and her brother, Lewis Rockmore II.
Rita’s loving spirit, unwavering faith, and deep devotion to her family will be remembered and cherished forever by those who were blessed to know her. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so deeply and in the countless lives she touched through her kindness, generosity, and steadfast faith.
