Bob Casey passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2026, 9 days before his 46th wedding anniversary. He was surrounded in love by his wife, Kathy (aka Flo) and his sister-in-law, Janet (aka Nurse Kratchitt).
Bob was born on August 27, 1944 to Johanna Elaine Bonhorst and Theodore Matthew Casey at New York Hospital in New York City. Bob was later joined by siblings Joyce and Teddy. Bob grew up in the Yorktown area of NYC. He attended Aviation Mechanics High School in Queens. In November 1965, he joined the Air Force. After basic training, he was stationed at Langley Air Force Base, later transferring to Freising, Germany for four years. Bob returned to the States and served as a recruiter in White Plains, NY. He was later transferred to Malstrom AFB near Great Falls, MT. He left active duty in 1976 and entered the Air National Guard in White Plains, NY. Total time served was 20 years, 2 months, and 7 days.
Bob graduated from Pace University with a degree in Finance/Accounting. He worked for Otis, AMF, Penn Central, and Derecktor on the East Coast. In August of 1979 he met his wife, Kathy Casey at the Left Guard Restaurant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They saw each other 8 times and then married on March 15, 1980 in New Vienna, IA. Their son, Patrick, joined the family in 1984 and was the joy of his life. In 1987, they moved to Barrington, IL and he began employment at Square D. He became a CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) and later received his Masters degree from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management in 1992. He then began employment at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. He retired as an Assistant VP in the Audit Department, February 2006.
Bob was a soccer coach for Pat’s team. He also volunteered as Treasurer of the Barrington Area Council of Governments.
Bob loved the Casey and Mescher families, especially his wife, Kathy and son, Pat. He enjoyed horse racing, music, History, ghoulish TV series and more. He also savored a cocktail or two of Scotch or Grey Goose Vodka especially while sitting on their porch. Traveling with Kathy was also an activity that he loved. , They visited the UK, numerous European countries, Russia, the Mideast, and the US. He also enjoyed a solo trip to China.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, beloved Aunt Flossy and Uncle Henry, cousin Bob Waring, in-laws Peg and Bob Mescher and many other relatives on both sides.
He leaves behind his wife Kathy, son Patrick and his partner, Cassie Joy; sister Joyce and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; cousin Leslie Waring and family; Janet El Khatib and Bill Burdt. Pat and Kim Mescher, Tony and Inger Mescher, Bob Mescher and Gary Morreale, and their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; other family members on both sides; and many beloved friends he met while living in Barrington.
A special thank you to the Northwestern Memorial Hospital Oncology Staff, Barrington Fire Department, and the compassionate staff of Journey Care Hospice.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 11 a.m. to time of Memorial Service 12 noon, all at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street, Barrington, IL
