Buffalo, Minnesota,Robert A. Johnson, 85 of Barrington Bob was born on June 16, 1924 in Chicago Illinois. He moved to Barrington in 1938 and graduated from Barrington High school in 1942. A Veteran of WWII he served in the Army Infantry from 1943 - 1945. After completing his basic training in Fort Jackson South Carolina he was sent to London, England where he joined the 4th Infantry Division. Bob was at Utah Beach on D-Day and continued with the invasion of France. During his tour of duty he was honored with 2 Personal Bronze Stars for his service and actions and additionally received 5 bronze series stars for his continued service and action in Normandy, France and Central Europe. He was also honored with the Fourragere award from Belgium. Bob was a member of the Barrington American Legion Post #158 and the VFW Post 7706. Bob was an active volunteer for Good Shepherd Hospital before moving to Buffalo, Minnesota in 2007. Bob's career of over 40 years was a milkman. Bob is survived by his wife of 66 years Lidia (Shiley) Johnson, children John R. (Gloria) Johnson of Georgetown, TX, Joan M. Besse of Buffalo, MN and grandchildren Jennifer (Kyle) Wolden of Buffalo MN, Mike (Tracy) Besse of Shakopee, MN, Amie Whitfield (Alan) of Juliette GA and Dana Johnson of Lewisville TX. Great grandchildren Tyler Besse, Travis Wolden, Kayla, Tanner and Connor Besse, Mitchell, Michael and Miller Whitfield. Bob also has a sister, Ruth (Jim) Prow of Florida and many dear friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Louise Johnson. Visitation will be held at St. Mathews Lutheran Church , 720 Dundee Ave., Barrington, on Monday, January 4, 2010 at 12:00 noon followed immediately by the church service.
