Robert Alan Olsen

Robert Alan Olsen, age 88, passed away on March 22, 2023. Bob was born on December 14, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Lane Tech High School in 1953, Northern Illinois University in 1958 and went on to get his master’s degree. He taught mathematics and was a high school counselor at Schurz High School. He retired in 1994 after 36 years of service.

Bob has always had a love of sports. He enjoyed cheering on all Chicago teams. He was an avid golfer and in his early years played 16” softball and enjoyed bowling.

Bob was a devoted family man and will be missed by all who loved him. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Gloria Olsen (nee Schank); loving children, Eileen (Bob) Poklop, Brad (Jean) Olsen; cherished grandchildren, Alison (Chad) Ruter, Matt Poklop, Ben Olsen and great grandchildren Sophia and Molly Ruter.
