Robert Earl Passehl

Robert Earl Passehl, 67, of Deer Park, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

Bob was born in Joliet, Illinois, on October 16, 1958, to Robert and Joann Spears. His father, Robert, died tragically in a car accident in 1961. Bob's mother married Rudolph Passehl who went on to adopt and raise Bob.

During his final semester at Loyola University Chicago, Bob met Janice Velis and quickly knew she was the love of his life. The two remained together while Bob continued his education at Northwestern University, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. After graduating in 1985, Bob and Janice were married, beginning a partnership that would span more than four decades. Bob went on to practice dentistry in Palatine and Barrington for 39 years. He was passionate about his work and took pride in all he accomplished.

Outside of dentistry, Bob found his greatest joy in the simple things. He loved spending time outdoors, whether hiking, grilling, or feeding the birds in his backyard. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan who enjoyed settling in with a good book and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team. Above all else, Bob was a devoted husband and father. His family was the center of his world, and he worked tirelessly to provide them with a life filled with love, stability, and unwavering support. His kindness, quiet strength, and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Janice Passehl; his children, Jayne Passehl (fiancé, Kostantinos "Dino" Kapetanos) and John (Joann) Passehl; his siblings, David (Dawn) Passehl, Mary (Michael) Rauso, and Kurt (Erin) Passehl; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Earl Spears, Joann Passehl, and Rudolph Passehl Jr., as well as his beloved dog, Trixie.
