Robert Dillon Schmidt

Robert Dillon Schmidt, age 69, passed away on March 16, 2023 at Lake Forest Hospital. He is survived by his sons, Dillon and Devin Schmidt; sisters, Susan (Mark) Ahearn and Jo Linda (James Drewry) Schmidt and his brother Michael (Michele) Schmidt. Other survivors include his two nieces, Lindsey (Locklin) McKinnon and Hillary (Michael) Sarvary; former wife and mother of his children, Redita Nakvosaite; as well as Gotti, his beloved bulldog and loyal companion. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Juanita Jo Schmidt.

Bob was born on May 16, 1953 in Peoria, Illinois and spent his early life in Morton, Illinois. He graduated from Morton High School in 1971 and from Northern Illinois University in 1975 where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. He was a certified CPA and also received a Masters Degree in Tax from DePaul University in Chicago.

Bob worked at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell in tax at the start of his business career. He then worked for Charles Levy, before joining American Hotel Register where he became the CFO. His intelligence, integrity and diligence were the hallmarks of his career.

Most important to Bob were his two sons, Dillon and Devin, whom he fiercely loved and brought him tremendous happiness. Engaging and genuine, Bob lit up every room he walked into and held the attention of everyone there. He had an enormous capacity for friendship and valued all of the friends in his life. His family and many friends will miss him for his terrific sense of subtle humor and his steadfast loyalty.
