Robert A. Snyder, Jr.

February 19, 1959 — June 9, 2023

Davenport, Lake Zurich

Robert A. Snyder, Jr., age 64, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 9th, 2023.

Robert was born in Dubuque, IA on February 19, 1959. Bob was first and foremost a loving father and husband.  He is an Eagle Scout and recipient of Vigil Honor in Order of the Arrow, Boy Scouts of America, lover of camping, nature photography, dog whisperer, gardener, and avid wood worker.  Most days he can be found working on a project; whether that’s tending to the garden or building a new piece of furniture.  Many have received his signature charcuterie board as a wedding gift.  The Snyder residence is a testament to his high level craftsmanship lovingly built into the home with cabinets trim and TV stands, custom made desks, and more.  He regularly spent Wednesday night with friends and where ever Bob is, his loyal pups, Pepper and Maddy, aren’t far behind.  On any given day there could be and additional 3-4 dogs in his care.  There is no dog that didn’t fall in love with Bob.  During the summers you can find Nancy and him driving the jeep up to Green Lake with two black labs happily poking their heads out.  He purchased a 1954 Ford Truck from Keith and with the help of his friends, they finally finished restoring it.  It’s fondly named “The Old Guy.”  He enjoyed live music, beer, Star Trek and Big Bang Theory re-runs and famously hates mint. He had quite a sweet tooth which was perfectly paired with Nancy’s love of baking, and no server was safe from his dad jokes.  When asked if he liked his food - with an empty plate sitting in front of him - he always replied, “I hated it.”  Of course, this was followed by groans from Tommy and Dan.  His sarcasm and wit were always front and center and will always be remembered.  Bob lived a life in constant service of loved ones. Not even two hip replacements could have him sitting for long!  He was and is a loving, kind-hearted, hard-working, sarcastic, passionate, dog-loving, family man and he will be greatly missed.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Nancy Snyder (nee Kelly); loving sons, Thomas and Daniel Snyder; brothers, Roy (Kathy), Roger, and Ron (Marilyn) Snyder; niece, Savannah Snyder; nephews, Brian (Marena), Nick, and Jeremiah Snyder, and Sean, Colin, and Kyle Kelly.

Preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Betty Snyder.
