Robert D. Sperlazzo

Robert 'Bob' Dale Sperlazzo, age 76, passed away unexpectedly on September 15, 2026. Born on June 11, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, to Roy and Violet Sperlazzo, Bob was the second of three children and grew up alongside his sisters.

A musician at heart, Bob shared his musical gifts generously. Whether he was leading his church community in worship, playing in folk-rock and Christian rock groups, or simply sitting with family playing favorite songs for those he loved most, his music brought people together. Bob also loved sharing his passion for Italian culture with his family, bringing traditions to life through stories, laughter, and his love for a good meal. Bob lived a life firmly rooted in his faith, dedicating his years to God, his family, and his ministry. 

As a proud graduate of the Columbia College Class of 1976, he lived out his convictions with both purpose and joy. He possessed a wonderful ability to bring light into any room and truly loved to laugh.

In 1978, Bob met the love of his life, Kim. The two shared a beautiful, whirlwind romance and married quickly, beginning a lifelong partnership built on deep devotion and laughter. Together they raised five children, who fondly remember their parents beautifully blending their voices in folk harmonies during family car rides. Those who knew Bob best will forever cherish his delightfully silly sense of humor, especially the playful, treasured moments he shared as 'Pops' to his six grandsons. 

Bob leaves behind a profound legacy of faith and family. He is reunited in eternal rest with his beloved wife, Kimberly Joy (Hellerich) Sperlazzo, who preceded him in death.
