Robert J. “R.J.” Stalo passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 17 in Huntley. He was born January 24, 1986 in San Antonio, TX to James and Colleen Stalo, and raised in Crystal Lake.
R.J. was a graduate of Crystal Lake South High School where he played varsity hockey since freshman year. He also participated on the golf team for four years, where his love of golf began. R.J. was a graduate of Arizona State University in 2008. Following graduation, he moved back to Crystal Lake and commuted to Chicago working as a runner at the Board of Trade, eventually becoming a commodities trader. R.J. was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching all professional and college sports. He had a huge heart and a big smile and loved his family deeply. His dog Rocky was his best buddy. R.J. was loved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his mother, Colleen; siblings, Kristie (Tommy) Alford, and Scottie (Megan) Stalo; niece and nephew, Jack and Molly Alford; aunts, Kassie (Mark) Toberman, and Karen (Gary) Gripentrog; cousins, Alex and Mick Toberman, and Drew and Troy Gripentrog; his beloved Angie Rinn; and his best dog, Rocky. He was preceded in death by his father, James; and grandparents, Bob and Diane O’Donnell.
Memorial visitation will be 12pm until the funeral service at 5pm Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave (Route 176) Crystal Lake. Interment will be private.
