Rodney N. Maruyama

Rodney Nobuo Maruyama, 73, of Crystal Lake, died on August 5, 2023 of natural causes while on his way home from an afternoon walk. He was a licensed clinical social worker who helped so many and was a very respected member of the community. Rod was the definition of a family man and spent as much time as he could playing with his grandson.

Rod is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Nancy; his children, Caitlin (Philip) and Jennifer (Steven); his grandchildren, Logan and Baby Girl Kupitz; his siblings, Kevin and Lynn; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and clients.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Maruyama, and his beloved son, Brendan.

Rod’s visitation will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a Buddhist Memorial Service on Sunday, August 13,  at 9:30 AM both at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
