Rosemary Blazier, 96, a longtime resident of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024. She was born on January 4, 1928 in Spring Valley, IL to the late James and Rose Riva.
On June 11, 1949, Rosemary married the love of her life, Robert Blazier, and together they built a warm and supportive home. In 1962, they moved to Crystal Lake, Illinois, where Rosemary became an integral part of the community.
She was a dedicated P.E. teacher for 35 years, Rosemary inspired countless students in grades 1 through 6 and junior high. As a school counselor she inspired the lives of many students. The advice and love she shared with them changed many lives over the years. Her commitment to education was matched only by her devotion to her community.
She was an active member of the St. Thomas Choir and Women's Club, St. Jude Guild, and Service League, as well as the American Cancer Society, PEO Sisterhood, and Heart Association of Crystal Lake.
In her free time, Rosemary was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing bridge, always seeking ways to stay active and engaged. She loved long walks with her dear friends. Her warm spirit and kindness touched the lives of many, and she will be remembered for her unwavering support of family and friends. Rosemary would do anything for anyone in need. Her smile would light up a room.
Rosemary is survived by her loving husband, Robert, her son, John (Amy) Blazier; granddaughters, Melissa Blazier and Natalie (Michael) Frericks; and great grandchildren, Kash Michael, and Leni Rose.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, James (Marianne) Riva, her sister, Donna Cahill, her brother-in-law, Donald Cahill.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Heart Association of Crystal Lake, reflecting Rosemary's lifelong dedication to helping others.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 3 PM until 7 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014. A memorial mass will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 2 PM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Interment will be private.
