Russell Alan Martens

Russell Alan Martens, 71 of Johnsburg, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Russell was born on February 21, 1951 in Valparaiso, Indiana to Arthur and Janet (nee Peters) Martens.

Russell was a diehard Cubs and Cowboys fan,  he had hoped for the Cowboys to make it to the super bowl again. He enjoyed playing competitive softball in his younger years, and was an avid bowler having bowled a 300 game! He also enjoyed sharing his love of baseball, football  hunting, and fishing with his four children.

Russell is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Cathy (nee Kawsh); children, Tina (Mike) Deatherage, Russell (Corinna) Martens, Jr., Todd (Lindy) Martens and Nichole (Weston) Harbaugh; grandchildren, Devin and Dylan Deatherage, Austin, Kyle and Troy Martens, Avery and Caden Martens, Jordynn and Kamrynn Bernicchi, Peyton,  Madelyn, and Everly Harbaugh; brothers, Robert, Richard (late Rosalind) and Michael Martens; and Sisters Dawn Tutt, Debbie Bellows, and Ramona Kaye Wynn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Janet Martens.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
