Ruth H. Dycus

Ruth Hedwig Kilroy Dycus, 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 7, 2024. Born in Berlin, Germany on August 29, 1928 to Franz and Hedwig Bluemel, Ruth came to the United States with her son, Patrick, during the Berlin Airlift.

On August 25, 1954, Ruth married Marvin “Bear” Dycus in Woodstock. They were married 62 years before his passing in 2016.

Ruth’s faith was very important to her. She kept a meticulous house and garden, enjoyed her German music, and loved to dance.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Patrick (Mary) Kilroy and Michael (Cathy) Dycus; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and her sister, Karin Schacht.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Roswita Lindner and Helga Hahn.

A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 17, from 10am until the time of a service at 11am at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 6821 Main St, Union. Inurnment will be at McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ruth's memory are welcome.
