Our fiery Sandie fought a hard battle against cancer for over a year. She was amazingly strong throughout it. In her 80 years she lived life to the fullest. Sandie’s career included being a secretary, travel agent, wife, and mother. Her lesser-known jobs included being a Sara Lee taste-tester and a real estate open house coordinator. She was also known as “the Mayor” to her neighbors. Sandie married Richie 57 years ago in Chicago and then built a wonderful life together in Barrington. Sandie was devoted member of St. Anne’s Church. She was a member of the choir, a eucharistic minister, CCD teacher, and a long-standing volunteer. Sandie was a lover of animals, especially dogs. She REALLY loved dogs, especially her magical Muppet, Bandit. Sandie was a people person. She made friends wherever she went and would run into a familiar face everywhere she traveled. She was a good listener and gave thoughtful advice to both family and friends. Sandie was a firecracker. She had a need for speed, if there was an opportunity to drive fast she took it. Sandie was always moving. She loved long walks around the block and longs strolls down the beach. Sandie was an adventurer. She hiked the mountains of Utah, Colorado, and Hawaii, and went on many adventures in the deserts of Utah. Sandie was an athlete. She played softball and volleyball for a lot of her adult life and was exceptionally good at both. Sandie loved to dance. She took ballet as a child and danced the Chicago clubs in her 20s. Her love of dance continued at weddings, parties, and even in the sunroom with her grandchildren. Sandie loved to craft. She made ornaments, macrame, wall hangings, decorations, and more. You name it, she made it and would give them as gifts. Sandie loved her grandsons immensely and showered them in the very best hugs.
Sandie is survived by her husband Richard. Her daughters Christine (Corey) and Nicole (Collin), her grandsons Hutch, Bay, Qhue, and Reggie. Along with many generations of loving family.
