She is survived by her husband, William Proskow; sons, William Schlanger and Steven (Amy) Schlanger; grandchildren, William O. Schlanger, Leonard M. Schlanger, Margot R. Schlanger, and Mary E. Schlanger; siblings, William Von Valtier, Anne Hays, Eric Von Valtier, and Lisa Kogen.
Sandra was a scholar of ancient languages, philosophy, and humanities. She was a devoted mother, wife, and patron of the arts.
