Shari Marie Sullivan, 58, of North Barrington, passed away surrounded by her family on November 4, 2025. She was born on November 9, 1966 in Elgin, IL to Merle and Joellen Gaschler.
Shari grew up in Wauconda, IL, where her bold spirit and sense of style first began to shine. Known for her flair for fashion and fearless approach to life, she was a trendsetter long before her time—and was even crowned Miss Wauconda.
Shari had an instinctive gift for design and creativity. Her passion for interior design and fashion was matched only by her ability to make everyone around her feel special and cared for.
Graceful and full of life, she was the kind of woman who made a lasting impression—whether through her quick wit, her humor, or the warmth she extended to all. To many of her children’s friends, Shari was a second mom, always ready with open arms, encouragement, and love.
Faith played a central role in Shari’s life. She was a longtime member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hawthorn Woods, where she and her husband, Tim, were the first couple to be married in the church’s new chapel over 30 years ago. Shari was deeply involved in her church community—serving as the first woman elected to the school board, leading the youth group, and enthusiastically volunteering as the “best homeroom mom.”
Shari and Tim celebrated 33 beautiful years of marriage. She was his rock, best friend, and everything. Together, they built not only a strong and loving family but also a successful business—Sullivan Roofing—which has proudly served the community for 28 years.
Shari had a gift for making others feel welcome. She loved to host gatherings, care for people, and make any space feel like home. Her sharp wit, infectious laugh, and great sense of humor brought joy to every room she entered. But above all, her greatest pride and joy were her family and grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her husband Tim, her children, Kristen (Josh) Hirth and Jacob (Amelia) Sullivan; grandchildren, Edward and Avery; her mom, Joellen; and her brothers, Scott (Amy) Gaschler and Terry (Tony) Gaschler.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward and her brother, Dan Gaschler.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 13, 2025 from 3 PM until 7 PM at St Matthew Lutheran Church, 24500 N Old McHenry Rd, Hawthorn Woods, IL 60047. Visitation will resume at church on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM. Burial will immediately follow at the church cemetery. All are invited to join the family for the funeral.
The celebration of Shari's life will continue with a reception at Wynstone Country Club, 1 S Wynstone Dr, North Barrington, IL 60010 immediately following the burial.
To honor Shari’s vibrant life, the family requests everyone to dress in bright, colorful clothing.
