Sharon Lucille Anderson

Sharon Lucille Anderson, 87, of Belvidere, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. Until very recently, Sharon had taken great pride in her natural healthy life and avoided all doctor visits for the past several decades! She told everyone, “my grandmother lived to be 103, I plan to make it to 104!” Sadly, following a serious fall on May 19th, doctors discovered Sharon had advanced cancer, but she fought a hard battle to regain her health and stay in her home. In her last months, Sharon remained true to her hardy Scandinavian heritage and never complained of pain, despite multiple surgeries and severe complications.

Sharon was born on March 31, 1939 to Lucillle and Fredolph Gustafson, in Kingsford, Michigan. She had wonderful memories of growing up in the Upper Peninsula with many Willman Family and Gustafson Family cousins. She moved to Palatine in1953, and graduated from Palatine High School in 1957 and married her former husband, Lynde Anderson, in September 1957. Sharon started her family in Palatine, and moved to Hawthorn Woods in 1967, where she raised her three children in the home the family built together in Acorn Acres. She later moved to Lake Barrington Shores and then Belvidere, where she worked for several years at the Keenage Center for seniors.

Sharon was an avid reader and gardener. Over the years, she enjoyed baking and sewing, writing, watching movies and British television. Sharon had a special place in her heart for dogs! She often took care of the dogs that belonged to friends at Pearl Place, in Belvidere. She will be missed by residents at Pearl Place, especially her dear friend, Judy Barry who helped care for Sharon during her last months.

Sharon is survived by her children, Kevin Anderson (Mary Beth), Carey Rysiewicz (Tom), Kirstin Willliams (Mike), her grandchildren, Shea (Tony) Seeger, Samantha (TJ) Lally, Nicole Williams, Kira Rysiewicz, Erik (Ali) Anderson, Haley (Chris) Parker, Michael Williams, Drew (Cecily) Rysiewicz, Lauren Anderson, Matthew Williams, and Britta (Derek) Sexton, and great-granddaughters, Louise and Rosie Anderson. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Fredolph and Lucille.

Her family is forever grateful for the help and support of her siblings and their spouses, especially during recent events; Gary and Charlotte Gustafson, Donn Gustafson, Beth and Mike Vecchie, as well as several nieces and nephews.

During her final weeks, Sharon was blessed by the care and compassion she received from the amazing team from Northern Illinois Hospice Association and from V-Care Hospice, as well as the staff at Arden Courts. Sharon’s life will be celebrated at a private family gathering.
