Shawn W. Gibbons

Shawn W. Gibbons, 59, of Crystal Lake, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 14, 1967 in Elgin to Floyd and Marilyn Gibbons.

Shawn graduated from Central High School and dedicated 42 years of service to Jewel- Osco in Crystal Lake, where he was known for his strong work ethic and familiar smile.

Shawn loved staying active and found joy in the outdoors. Whether he was hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, or simply sitting on his deck enjoying the fresh air, he appreciated the peace and beauty of nature. He also enjoyed video games, tinkering with just about anything, and spending time with the family dog, Diesel, whom he loved taking on walks.

He is survived by his siblings, Cathy, Joey, Felicia, Merry, and Ed (Julie); many nieces and nephews; his best friend, Peter (Jackie); and numerous friends.

Shawn was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Lonn.

A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, June 7, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
