Shirley Esther Tetmeyer

Shirley Esther Tetmeyer, 83, of Crystal Lake, passed away on April 26, 2026.

She was born January 19, 1943, in Evanston, Illinois, to August and Laura (Rowaldt) Lange.

Shirley was known for her helpful and caring nature, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. She had a creative spirit and enjoyed staying busy with ceramics and a variety of crafts. She loved playing games, square dancing, watching the Cubs, and spending time with others.

Her faith was an important part of her life. Shirley was a dedicated church volunteer, giving her time to Sunday school, vacation Bible school, and the Lutheran Women’s League.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Steven Tetmeyer and his wife, Jessica; longtime family friends, Steve and Judy Smith and their children, David Smith and Marissa Smith; longtime close friend, Ken Greene; and many other dear longtime friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Laura Lange, and her sister, Carol (Bob) Skibbe.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 31, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 932 S McHenry Ave, Crystal Lake. A time of visitation will be held from 2pm until a service at 3pm.
