Sue Hittle Emmerick

Sue Hittle Emmerick, 89, of Lake Barrington, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025. She was born in Hammond, IN to the late George and Vera Hittle. 

She grew up in Lansing, IL, where she attended Thornton Fractional Township High School. She graduated from Illinois State Normal University and later earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Illinois.

Sue was a beloved 4th grade teacher in Palatine, IL for more than 30 years. She traveled extensively, including frequent trips to New Orleans and the island of Anguilla. Her hobbies included antiquing, painting, cooking, and spending time in Arizona. She was a patron of the arts and loved the theater.

Sue is survived by her siblings Dean (Ann) Hittle and Georgine Vogrich as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George Emmerick and her sister Mary Petrites.

Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 9 AM until the Memorial Mass at 10:30 AM, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 Ela St. (corner of Franklin and Ela Streets), Barrington IL 60010. Inurnment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, www.lung.org or Goodman Theatre, Donate Online.
