Sunny Campbell (nee Simard), age 79, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, July 29, 2024.

Sunny was born on September 18, 1944, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. She completed her education in nursing at McGill University’s Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal and enjoyed a successful nursing career that spanned five decades. Her heart was in emergency medicine, and she spent the bulk of her career at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, Illinois, ultimately being selected as both Emergency Department Nurse of the Year and Hospital Nurse of the Year.

Sunny’s greatest gifts were her bright and cheery disposition, her compassion for others, her dedication to her work, and her devotion to her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Sunny is survived by her loving children, Bonnie (David) Koelling and Rob Roy Campbell; grandchildren, Jamie, Ben, Jeffrey, Anne, and Amy Olsen; siblings, Denise Ommanney (Lloyd Axworthy), Maggie Simard (Ian Hendry), David (Donna) Simard, and Jamie Simard; and many loving nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Emilien and Evelyn Simard.

A memorial visitation for Sunny will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 12pm until 4pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington, IL 60010.
