Susan Jean Bratanick, 72 years of age and resident of Woodstock, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 6th ,2025.

Sue was born on March 21st,1953, in Cherry Point, North Carolina, to William Weichbrodt and Joan Landow, and grew up in Chicago, Illinois. On September 8th,1974 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, George E. Bratanick, at St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Catholic Church in Chicago. The two began their family shortly thereafter and enjoyed over 50 years of marriage together.

Sue is survived by her loving husband, George E. Bratanick ; children Brian (Rachel) Bratanick of Woodstock, Illinois, and Jason (Jennifer) Bratanick of Marengo, Illinois; grandchildren Kyle and Jackson; mother Joan Weichbrodt; siblings Karen, Bill (Diane), Marcia (Tony), Jim (Marianne); brother-in-law Joseph (Holly) ; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and countless friends. Sue was preceded in death by her father William Weichbrodt.

Sue had a varied career path, spending 10 years working at The Warehouse Club in Niles, Illinois, and 22 years as a customer service representative at Brake Parts, Inc., in McHenry, Illinois. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and baking for her family and friends, as well as spoiling her grandsons, nieces, nephews, and now the next generation. Sue loved to spoil and support the neighborhood kids as well. Susan enjoyed playing golf with her friends and loved being a tomboy with her sister Karen. Sue always had a great time when spending time with her many friends. Even though the Chicago sports teams would mostly let her down, she was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Bears, and the Chicago Bulls and enjoyed watching all of them win championships. During her treatment, she always enjoyed receiving greeting cards from her dear cousin Nancy. A lover of pop music Sue attended a Harry Styles concert with her sister Karen and the two had an incredible night to remember. Sue loved to read and she was known to have made the best apple pie and carrot cake which will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Sue’s life will be held on Saturday, August 16th, 2025, beginning at 3p.m. with a memorial service to take place at 7p.m., at Davenport Funeral Home, 416 E. Terra Cotta Ave.(rt.176), Crystal Lake, Illinois, 60014.
