Susan Marie Vermaat

Susan “Susie” Marie Vermaat (51) of Rockford, IL, passed away on Sunday May 24th, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones.

She was born on May 21st, 1975, to Donald Vermaat (father), Debra Holman (mother), and Susan Johnas (step-mother). After graduating from Medford High School, she later graduated from Harper College with an associate’s degree. Susie absolutely loved being a Memaw to her grandchildren. When she wasn’t spending time with her grandchildren, she loved to get lost in a good book or rewatch her comfort show “Friends” for the millionth time. One of her favorite places to travel with her daughters was New Orleans.

Susie is survived by her three daughters; Taylor Seibel (Cole Seibel), Tristin Richardson (Ryan Bassuener), and Trean Richardson, her two grandchildren; Dallas Seibel and Delaney Seibel, her two grandpups; Leo Bassuener and Millie Seibel, and her siblings; Donald Vermaat Jr., Jaime Vermaat-Browning (Matthew Browning), Jacob Vermaat (Vanessa Vermaat), and Pamela Vermaat.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Vermaat, her dog, Skylar Allie, and best friend, Patty O’Keefe.

A celebration of life will be held on June 6th from 1pm-3pm at Rotary Botanical Gardens, located at 1455 Palmer Drive, Janesville, Wi 53545. The family kindly requests that attendees wear one of Susie’s favorite colors (orange, green, or yellow) to honor her memory.
