Sylvia Margaret Damiano

Sylvia Margaret Damiano (91) loving mother, cherished grandmother, and great-grandmother, entered the arms of her Savior on November 15, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on April 11, 1933, in Chicago to parents Henry and Clara Probst, married to Fred Sr. in 1955, Sylvia was the beloved mother of Sue Meyer (Mike), Peter (Carol), Henry, Sherri, Fred Jr. (Roger), and Angelo (Shelly). Her family grew with each generation, and she found immense joy in being a grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother to many. Her love for her family was boundless, and she opened her heart unconditionally, wrapping her love around every family member. Her home was always a welcomed safe haven for family vacations and holidays spent on the beaches in Naples, Florida. 

She was recognized with several awards during her career in business and in real estate, which spanned over 40 years. 

A woman of unwavering faith, Sylvia’s life was a testament to her commitment to Christ. She cared for and nurtured the children of church members in her own home to ease the financial situations of their families. Her kind spirit, gentle guidance, and words of wisdom touched the hearts of everyone who knew her.

Sylvia’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with loved ones who have gone before her and that she rests in eternal peace.

Memorial visitation will be Sunday, November 24, 2024 from 1 PM until 4 PM with a prayer service at 1:30 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main St. (Lake Cook Rd.), Barrington, IL 60010. Visitation will resume on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 9 AM until the memorial mass at 10 AM at St. James Parish, 820 N. Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to JourneyCare Hospice (405 N Lake Zurich Rd, Barrington, IL).
