Thaddeus "Ted" Kostecki

Thaddeus “Ted” Arthur Kostecki, 64, of Barrington passed away on July 7, 2022. He was born on June 25, 1958 in Chicago, IL to Władysław and Krystyna Kostecki.

Ted always had a warm smile to give, was a compassionate friend, and an adoring father. In his youth, he was a Polish Boy Scout, proud of his Polish heritage and later even went on to work for several years in Poland. His true roots were in Chicago, though, and as the first member of his family to complete college, he was a proud graduate of DePaul University.

Ted was driven, determined and did not shy away from hard work – his career spanned for over 40 years, working as a CFO for such companies as Pepsi Americas and Sara Lee. It was important for him to work hard so that he could lay the foundation for his children and instill in them good values, morals and life lessons.

As a true Chicagoan and a fan of all sports, he loved to cheer on the Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Cubs. He greatly enjoyed fishing with his kids, playing hockey and football with friends as well as horse racing. He could frequently be found pouring over Arlington Park’s racing program or diving into Yahoo Finance and had a flair for always picking the right horse or stock. He also loved traveling and taking nature walks with his family wherever they were. He was empathetic to all, generous with his time, and always willing to help anyone who needed it. Above all, Ted was a great father and deeply loved by his family and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 13, 2022 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington, IL 60010. Visitation will resume on Thursday, July 14, from 10 AM until the 11 AM Funeral Mass at Saint Anne Catholic Community, 120 Ela St. (corner of Franklin and Ela Sts.), Barrington, IL. Interment will be private.
