.Theodore “Ted” Anspaugh, 1936–2025

Theodore “Ted” Anspaugh, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and “One Good Guy,” passed away peacefully this week at the age of 88. A proud Yooper born in 1936, Ted had a big heart and a warmth that drew people to him wherever he went.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol, and is survived by his three devoted daughters and sons-in-laws, Lynn and Rod Ige, Barb and John Miceli, and Jeanne and Joe Connolly—who were by his side during his final days. Ted was the proud grandfather of Caitlin and TJ Ige; John, Katie, and Michael Miceli; and PJ, Abby, Jillian, and Richie Connolly. He also leaves behind a great-granddaughter, Annie Richter, who brought him tremendous joy.

Ted could tell a tall tale with the best of them, and his life was full of friendship, laughter, and love. He found peace and happiness on the water—sailing, fishing, and enjoying lake life with the people he cared about most.

Ted dedicated over forty years to a meaningful career in educational publishing.

He had a generous spirit and spent years serving others through his volunteer work at the St. Vincent de Paul Crystal Lake Food Pantry and other humanitarian efforts. He was also deeply involved in his church communities, especially Resurrection Parish.

Above all, Ted loved being with his family. He gave freely of his time, shared his stories with a twinkle in his eye, and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and compassion that will live on in all who knew him.

A visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Resurrection Catholic Church, 2918 Country Club Rd, Woodstock, IL 60098, with a funeral mass at 11 a.m. Burial to take place on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Crystal Lake Memorial Park, 8012 Ridgefield Rd, Crystal Lake, IL 60012.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one of Ted’s favorite charities: Food For The Poor.
