Thomas C. Reiner

Thomas C. Reiner passed away peacefully August 3, 2023 in Barrington with his loving family at his side. He was born July 9, 1955 in New York City to Robert E. and Clare T. Reiner. Tom is survived by his daughter, Stacy Iardella and son, Raymond (Victoria) Iardella; and grandchildren, Audrey and Emilia Iardella.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Reiner; and his parents.

Tom had a tough “New Yorker” exterior, but underneath a heart of gold. Those who were fortunate to know him well enough would find themselves drawn to Tom, talking about sports, politics, family or the topic of the day. Tom was a lover of The Beatles, Westerns, New York sports teams (Rangers, Yankees, Giants and Knicks), horse racing, in addition to being an avid poker player. He had a one-liner for just about everything, incredible whit and undeniable charm.

An accomplished Directors & Officers underwriter, he retired from the insurance industry following more than 20 years of service at RSUI Group. Tom stayed in Atlanta, Georgia in the early years of retirement, where he was close to friends and family. In January 2018, Tom moved from Atlanta to Barrington, Illinois to be closer to his first granddaughter Audrey, and remained a devoted and cherished Grandpa to both Audrey and his little Emmie.

The family would like to thank the dedicated, patient and loving staff at The Garlands of Barrington and JourneyCare Hospice for the kindness and care given to Tom.

Memorial visitation will be from 10am until the funeral mass at 11am, Monday August 7 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 N. Ela Street, Barrington.  Interment will be private.
