Thomas Walter

Thomas Walter, 76, of Huntley passed away on January 16, 2021 at St. Alexius Hospital of Covid-19 complications. Thomas Courain Walter was born August 16, 1944, in Plainfield, NJ. After graduating from Plainfield High School, Tom attended Philadelphia College of Arts, receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration. Tom married Barbara Shagg in July 1978. Tom spent most of his career in audio sales and marketing with firms Community, JBL Pro, Sound Advance, and Quam.

Before moving to Huntley in 2020, Tom and Barbara lived in North Barrington for 35 years. Tom was very active at St Anne Catholic Church in Barrington, serving as a regular usher and usher manager.

Tom loved many music genres, but his favorite was jazz. Tom also loved driving with Barbara in his vintage 1962 Porsche 356. In his free time, Tom enjoyed tinkering on his car and just sitting in the back yard, watching the oak trees, drink in hand, listening to a good jazz tune.

Tom is survived by Barbara, his wife of 42 years. Due to pandemic restrictions, a memorial for Tom will be planned for a future date. Donations may be made in Tom’s memory to Animal House Shelter of Huntley.
