Thomas “Randy” Wright, 67, of Crystal Lake, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025, in the comforting presence of family. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, devotion to those he loved, generous spirit, and unmistakable sense of humor.
Born on December 25, 1957, in Tiptonville, Tennessee, to the late Patsy (nee Owens) and Gean Wright, Randy carried his southern roots proudly throughout his life. On June 2, 1984, he married the love of his life, JoAnn Miceli, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Together, they shared over 41 years of marriage filled with laughter, partnership, and the joy of raising their family.
Though not Italian by birth, Randy embraced JoAnn’s family as his own, taking part in their traditions with enthusiasm and love. His conversion to Catholicism was deeply meaningful to him, and his faith guided how he lived. He served as a Homebound Minister, was a First-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and participated in the Light of the World retreat, which nurtured his spiritual life and commitment to serving others. During the holidays, he was a familiar, smiling face ringing the bell for the Salvation Army.
Randy’s greatest joy in life was being a father. He adored his children, Geno and Jenna, and took immense pride in every moment of fatherhood. His love for his family ran deep; he was their safe place, their biggest cheerleader, and the steady presence they could always count on. Whether through his laughter, guidance, or quiet strength, he made sure his family always knew how loved they were.
A natural people-person, Randy spent much of his career in sales, where his easy conversation, quick wit, and ability to connect with anyone became his trademark. He never met a stranger, just a friend he hadn’t talked to yet. His gift for storytelling and genuine interest in others made him not only successful in his work, but deeply memorable to all who crossed his path.
A loyal sports fan, Randy delighted in cheering on the Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox. His warmth, humor, faith, and love of life touched all who knew him, and his legacy will live on in the countless lives he brightened.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jo Ann Wright; daughter Jenna (Bryan) Gartner; siblings Paula Popowski; Donnie (Traci) Wright; Dee (Peter) Gerrard; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gean and Patsy Wright and his beloved son, Gean “Geno” Wright.
A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, from 4pm until a prayer service at 7:30pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
