Tommie Lee Nesset,77, a long-time resident of Kildeer passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 11, 2022. She was born on March 23, 1945 in Lufkin, TX to Thomas Leeland and Mary Katherine (nee Beall) Petty.

Tommie was a proud graduate of University of Texas in Galveston. While attending school, she met her husband, Rollo in a chance encounter in the hospital elevator. They were united in marriage on July 22, 1967 and celebrated 55 beautiful years of marriage. Upon finishing school, they moved to the Chicago area and settled in Kildeer in 1977 to raise their family. But she always kept Texas very dear to her heart. They were blessed with 3 children and further blessed with many more grandchildren.

Tommie was a most gracious host who loved to entertain family and friends. She was part of the Gourmet Group that she held dear to her heart.

She also enjoyed traveling, sailing in the Carribean, playing tennis and skiing.

In addition to her beloved husband Rollo, Tommie is survived by her loving children, Nena Nesset, Anna (Taylor) Ripley and Jonathan Nesset; stepchildren Debbie (Jim) Empey, Steve (Nancy) Nesset and Mary (Greg) Nesset;  grandchildren, Roby, Jake and Savannah Lee; her sisters, Mary Katherine Burch and Bobbie Lou (Earnest) Allen and by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be Friday, December 16, 2022 from 5 PM until 8 PM at St. Michael Episcopal Church, 647 Dundee Avenue, Barrington, IL 60010.

Funeral service will be on Saturday, December 17 at 1 PM at the church. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael Episcopal Church.
