Vera Davis

Barrington, Illinois,A memorial service for Vera Ann Davis, nee Sawyer, 66, of Barrington, IL, is being planned for 10 a.m., Monday, July 19 at William Rainey Harper College Wojcik Conference Center, 1200 W. Algonquin Road Palatine, IL 60067. Born July 29, 1943 to Vie and Don Sawyer in Aurora, she died June 21, 2010 at her home. She received her nursing degree and was a professor of medical professions at William Rainey Harper College for over 20 years. She retired in 1999, but remained active at the college, giving insurance and retiree benefits seminars. She enjoyed helping others, gardening, travel and time with friends and family. She was a Red Hat queen, and active in her homeowners association. Survivors include her husband, Wallace Dean Davis; her brother, Bill Sawyer; her brother-in-law, Dave (Merry) Davis; her cousin, Bonnie Thornton; her stepdaughter, Holly (Tom) Doyle; her stepson, Scott (Lori) Davis; and her grandchildren Jessie, Lexi, Cassie, Cori, Jamie, Brandon, and Samantha. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vie and Cliff Larkins.
