Verna F. Studley

Verna F. Studley, age 94, passed away on January 20, 2021 at Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Crystal Lake, IL. She was born on September 12, 1926 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL, the daughter of Carl Ohrwall and Clara (Pfanninstill) Ohrwall.

Verna graduated from Crystal Lake Community High School in 1944. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. Verna was united in marriage to John Studley in Raleigh, NC on September 13, 1944. They opened the Chuck Wagon restaurant in Cornell, WI where they resided. They later relocated to Crystal Lake, IL. Verna worked at Oak Manufacturing in the early 1950’s. She started as a line worker, advanced to Supervisor then Foreman and retired in the late 1980’s. Verna and her husband loved to travel and take cruises. An avid gardener and lover of flowers, she belonged to the Crystal Lake Garden Club.

Verna is survived by her devoted children, Dennis (Betty) Studley of Crystal Lake, Barbara (Dan) Marson of Huntley and Diane (Steven) Garbarino of Owings Mills, Maryland; grandchildren, Jamie (Jeff) Klinefelter, Andrew Marson, John (Kristen) Studley, Katy (Greg) Michels, Nichole Quindel, Sarah (Chris) Carter, Garret (Sara) Garbarino and Zachary Garbarino; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Jean Goggin; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband John; infant son, Donald Studley; her parents; granddaughter, Amy Beth Marson; brother, Larry; and sisters, Rena and Emily.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 with visitation beginning at 9 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176) Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Burial will follow at McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock.
