Virginia Rose (Lazzara) Hoover

Virginia Rose Hoover, 88, of Crystal Lake passed away on November 25, 2023. Born in Chicago on October 10, 1935, to Anthony and Theresa (Pentacosta) Lazzara, she lived a life filled with dedication and joy.

Virginia earned her degree from MCC and served there as an administrative assistant to the Special Needs Director for over 36 years. She loved her job and
the people she worked with.

With her Italian heritage proudly displayed, Virginia was witty, feisty, and had a personality that lit up any room. She enjoyed painting with oils and charcoal, traveling – especially to Italy and Germany, and was always ready for a good conversation.

She is survived by her son Gary (Donna) Hoover; grandchildren, Trisha Hoover, Joy (Jeremy) Rempert, Pamela Hoover, Gerald (Christina) Ely, Jr., Fawn Bouchard, and Jeffrey (Tiffany) Ely; and great-grandchildren, Brayden, Kensington, Bella, Aniyah, Lucas, Austin, Jocelyn, McKenzie, and Rhett. Virginia was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Ely and sister, Marge Warmowski.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, November 30, from 4 to 8 pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.  A Mass in her memory will be at 10 am on Friday, December 1, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Crystal Lake.
