Vivyonne Ahlquist

Vivyonne Eloise (Ekstrum) Ahlquist, 93, of Montgomery, Illinois recently of Eastgate Manor, Algonquin, passed away at Sherman Hospital, Elgin on February 25, 2010. Vivyonne was born November 23, 1916, Minneapolis, Minnesota to C. Edward and Anna Christine (Peterson) Ekstrum. She graduated from South High School, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Bethel College and Mounds-Midway School of Nursing, St. Paul, Minnesota. On June 27, 1944 she married Gerald Robert Ahlquist who passed away June 22, 2003. They celebrated 59 years together. Mrs. Ahlquist was an RN working at Mounds Park Hospital, St. Paul; St. Cloud VA Hospital as director of nursing, St. Cloud, Minnesota; Aurora College as the college nurse and at Mercyville, Aurora, Illinois. Vivyonne will be greatly missed by her daughter Judy (Gregory) Mayer of Rock Island and Jan (David) Beagley of Crystal Lake, Illinois. She was a loving grandmother to Kristine A. Mayer of Rock Island, G. Allen (Carey) Mayer of Peoria, David R. Beagley of Ames, Iowa and Jon (Callie) Beagley of Fairfax, Virginia and great-grandmother of Conrad & Katherine Mayer. She will also be missed by her sister-in-law, Viriginia Ahlquist of West St. Paul, Minnesota, numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives as well as by her many friends. She enjoyed caring for & visiting with her family and many friends, playing the piano, reading and doing crossword puzzles. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 8, 2010 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 932 McHenry Avenue, Crystal Lake, Illinois with visitation at 9 a.m. Burial will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois. In lieu of flowers memorials maybe made to RSD Hope , PO Box 875, Harrison, ME 04040-0875 or charity of your choice.
