Wayne Robert Krase

Wayne Robert Krase, 88, longtime resident of Lake Zurich, passed away peacefully at home on May 21, 2024. He was born on November 25, 1935 in Chicago to the late Henry and Julia Krase.

Born and raised in Chicago, Wayne was a proud graduate of Lane Tech High School. He continued his higher education at Roosevelt University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree.  He later embarked on a distinguished career spanning four decades at IMC Global as a dedicated manager in their traffic department.

On Sept. 26, 1959, Wayne was united in marriage with the love of his life, Nancy Lou Daum. Together, they embarked on a beautiful journey filled with love, laughter, and unwavering companionship. Their love knew no bounds, and their union stood as a beacon of strength and devotion. A few years into their marriage, Wayne and Nancy made the joyful decision to move to Lake Zurich, where they established their forever home and laid down roots to raise their beloved family. 

Wayne was a man of many passions, with a love for golf that knew no bounds. His skilled swing and competitive spirit earned him several trophies and accolades, but it was the camaraderie and joy of the game that he truly enjoyed. Additionally, he found serenity in fishing, particularly fly fishing, and cherished moments spent boating on the peaceful waters. Family trips to Sanibel Island became cherished traditions, where Wayne delighted in the simple pleasures of sun, sand, and togetherness.

In addition to his beloved wife, Wayne is survived by cherished children, Christine (Timothy) O’Leary, Jacqueline (Christian) Marcheschi and Scott (Sarah) Krase; loving grandsons, Jack and Patrick O’Leary, Zachary Marcheschi, Matthew and Charles “Charlie” Krase; his dear siblings, Louise Shilvock and Kenneth Krase; and by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 South Buesching Road, Lake Zurich, Illinois. Interment to follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Palatine.
