William "Bill" J. Vahey
William “Bill” J. Vahey, 86, of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2024. He was born on October 9, 1937 in Chicago to the late William and Mary Vahey.
Bill proudly served his country as a United States Marine during the Vietnam War. Fearlessly navigating the skies as an F4 Pilot, Bill exemplified bravery and honor in the face of adversity, earning the respect and admiration of all who had the privilege of serving alongside him.
An avid golfer, he reveled in the challenge of the game and cherished the moments spent navigating the fairways and greens with friends old and new. Recently, Bill served as a ranger at Pinecrest Country Club in Huntley. He greatly enjoyed the people there and enjoyed his time spent there.
Above all, Bill's greatest source of happiness lay in the cherished moments shared with his beloved grandchildren. Bill’s devotion to his family knew no bounds, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he held most dear.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Claire (Matt) Lemke, grandchildren, Giselle, Max and Fiona Lemke; his siblings, Mary Jane (the late Joe) Roddy, Jerry (Kathy) Vahey, Peggy (Jim) Garland, Dan (Cathy) Vahey and Terry (Ron) Neville; and by many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Vahey.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Pinecrest Golf Course, 11220 W Algonquin Rd, Huntley, IL 60142.
