Bill Speechley

William Edwin Speechley, of Crystal Lake, passed away surrounded by his beloved family on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at the age of 80.

He was born November 24, 1945 in Elgin, the son of the late Edwin Joseph and Evelyn Bernice (Nuhn) Speechley.

Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, earning the Vietnam Service Medal. On October 17, 1987, Bill was united in marriage to Bonnie Karnik in Crystal Lake. He spent his working years as a contractor and videographer.

Bill was the loving husband of Bonnie Speechley; beloved father of Morgen (Matt) Kaiser, Toby (Natalie) Speechley, Trevor (Speechley) Smith; step-father of Bryce Holton, Lyndsay (Ed) Holton Crowe; and Ryanon (Jeff) Holton-Meigberg; cherished grandfather of Owen and Kali Kaiser, Evie and Jax Speechley; and step-grandfather of Phillip and Aiden Holton, Bella Hill, Logan Holton, and Gavin Holton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Speechley.

A memorial service for Bill will be planned for a later date.
