William Charles Clark, Jr., known affectionately as “Bill,” of Crystal Lake, and previously a long-time resident of McHenry County, passed away peacefully at his home on November 30, 2023, at the age of 93.
Born on October 3, 1930, in McHenry County, Bill was the eldest son of the late William Charles, Sr. and Anna (nee Dierker) Clark. A proud veteran, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Bill was not only a dedicated mason and laborer but also a man who cherished the outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, and baking. He found immense joy in spending time with his family and friends and was known for his generous spirit and outgoing nature, which endeared him to many.
Bill is lovingly survived by his partner and devoted companion, Patricia Krempel, and her family; his daughter, Theresa Clark; stepdaughters Cindy (Oliver) Clark and Gyronne (Teague) Ponio; grandchildren Nicolas Morales, Daniel and Ryan Shapiro, Jaiden Diggs, and Sarah Clark; his sister, Bernice Hironimus; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Shapiro and siblings, Esther Connor, Dorothy Beese, Robert Clark, Richard Clark, Norma Connor, Ronald Clark, and Patricia Markman; and his parents.
A visitation for Bill will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 4:00 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176), Crystal Lake.
