Anginetti Lenora Urch

May 2, 1972 — June 7, 2019

Davenport Crystal Lake

Anginetti “Netta” Lenora Urch, of Chicago, IL passed away peacefully on Friday morning, June 7, 2019. Netta was born on May 2, 1972 in Aliceville, AL and moved to Illinois in 1974.

Netta attended kindergarten at Clay Street School in Woodstock, IL and graduated from Alden-Hebron High School in Hebron, IL. While in high school, Netta participated and excelled in sports, music, drama and choir. Netta won several awards and was crowned Miss Alden Hebron in May 1990.

Netta possessed a strong work ethic. At 16, she was the youngest store manager that the Woodstock McDonalds had ever employed. She had a welcoming smile and people would wait in line to be served by her.

She loved children and pets. Netta mentored several young people and although she was allergic to cats, she adopted a seriously ill baby kitten that had been abandoned along with the rest of the litter in Hebron. Because of her love and compassion, Squeak survived and lived to be 13.

Netta was a member of the Hebron United Methodist Church. While there, she participated in Sunday school activities, youth group programs, peer leadership, UNICEF and various other church activities. The Hebron church family took Netta under their wings and supported her in all her endeavors.

Netta knew from a very young age that she wanted to be a lawyer. A sharp thinker and a natural problem-solver, she wanted to work in a profession that would allow her to use those skills. After graduating from high school, Netta earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Illinois University and a Juris Doctor from John Marshall Law School. While attending John Marshall, Netta was one of the students chosen to travel to Ireland to study with the barristers. After earning her law degree, her first position was an Assistant State’s Attorney for McHenry County, IL. Netta was a favorite of the McHenry County legal community, and became a mentor for several of the new attorneys who came to work at McHenry County. After moving to Chicago, Netta acquired several clients and continued to perform pro bono work up until a couple of months ago.

Netta also enjoyed politics. While working on her mother’s campaign in 2002, Netta met several influential political figures, and her greatest joy was volunteering for the Obama reelection campaign in 2012. Netta stood in the front row almost directly behind President Obama when he made his acceptance speech in 2012 at McCormick Place.

Netta leaves to mourn her mother Gloria Van Hof (Charles) and father William Urch; sisters Jennifarre Urch (Greg Medsker) and Virginia Van Hof; brothers Sam Davidson, Mike Urch, and Zachary Van Hof.

Netta leaves a host of aunts and uncles with whom she shared very special relationships: Maternal aunts include: Mattye Jones Miller, deceased; Rubye Jones Locke (Thornal); Geraldine Jones; Dorothy K. Taylor (Robert); Alicia Jones Thomas (Marvin); and Bonnie Faye Jones, deceased.

Maternal uncles include: David Jones, deceased; Sam Jones Jr (Ann); Willie Davis Jones, deceased, (Lydia); Early B Jones; John Russell Jones (Betty); Jimmy David Jones (Deborah); Tommy Lee Jones (Mary); and Roger Jones (Linda).

Paternal aunts include: Jean Mueller, deceased (Don); Ruth Hunt (Ralph), and Evalyn Jarrett, deceased (Bud).

Paternal uncles include: Harold Sherman, deceased (Julie); Glenn Sherman, deceased (Joann); and Jim Sherman, deceased (Sharry).

Netta also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly. She will be missed by all of them.
