Darrell Paul Otte

Darrell Paul Otte, age 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 20, 2021.

Darrell was born in Clarinda, Iowa on October 15, 1925 to Paul and Clara Otte. In 1947, he married Doris M. Johnson. When not hard at work on their farm, Darrell and Doris both enjoyed spending time with family, their DOTTE leather tooling business and square dancing. In 1967, the two of them decided to explore their new career opportunities in Crystal Lake, IL, - Doris in textbook typesetting/print industry and Darrell in the home construction and cabinet building industry. He had a passion for being creative with wood and the guests to his workshop always amazed at the patience to such detail with his strong large hands. After retiring Darrell’s biggest joy was driving back to Iowa to help his cousins working on the farms. His special treat was showing up during harvest with hot meals and desserts…he was a great cook and baker known to many for his banana nut bread.

Darrell is survived by his daughter, Marianne Noverio Otte; grandchildren, Rachel Otte, Courtney Otte, Cara (Matt Holland) Noverio, and Nicholas (Amy) Noverio; great-grandchildren, Emily, Abigail, Kalea, Marlee, and Keegan.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Doris Otte (2013); son, Curtis Otte (2017); parents, Paul and Clara Otte(1994); and infant brother; Loy Otte.

Graveside services will be held at a later date in the family’s home town of Clarinda, Iowa.
