Debra Ann Buettner

October 10, 1961 ~ November 11, 2021 (age 60)

Debra Ann Buettner died on November 11, 2021, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. She was born on October 10, 1961, in Elgin, Illinois to Elizabeth and James Buettner.

Debra was raised in North Barrington, IL and attended Barrington High School. She attended University of Arizona where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration majoring in accounting. She then earned her Certificate as a Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.) from the University of Illinois. She went on to earn her Juris Doctorate Law Degree (J.D.) from Chicago-Kent College of Law and was admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois in 1986.

Debra was recruited by Price Waterhouse in Chicago to work in their International Tax Division. In 1987, she met another BHS graduate, James Hammond, on a blind date. Six weeks later they were engaged and they wed on April 23, 1988. After marriage they lived in Barrington and moved to Barrington Hills in 1991.

In 1992, Debra established her own practice in South Barrington. With her guidance and leadership, The Law Offices of Debra A. Buettner, P.C., has assisted hundreds of clients in managing their legal and financial affairs. In addition to many other career accomplishments, in April of 2019, Debra was elected Trustee in the Village of Barrington Hills. A position she proudly served with dedication and honor.

Debra had a passion for cooking and animals, especially dogs and birds, that was only exceeded by her love for gardening. Every year after April 15th she would visit area nurseries and take weeks off work to tend to her vegetable and flower gardens. Being in her gardens was where she found peace.

She is survived by her loving husband and her older brothers Kenneth, Paul and Glen. Debra was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and James Buettner.
