Donald Perry Schroeder

Donald P. Schroeder, age 90, of Fox River Grove, passed away peacefully in his home with family by his side on April 5, 2021.

He was the much-loved dad to Pat (John) Capizzi, Helen (Randy) Cobler and Jeffrey (Barb) Schroeder.  Don is pre-deceased by his wife of 63 years, Barbara and brother Herbert, sister-in-law Ramona (Jim) Ribbe, and son-in-law John Capizzi.  Don is survived by his brother, John (Antoinette) Schroeder, sisters Mary Jo (Stephen) Pfeffer, Pixie (Barney) Sloan.  Don was blessed with eight grandchildren, Christopher, Douglas, Lance, Brian, Megan, Kaci, Melissa, and Scott; along with 13 great grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Don was born in Danville, IL to Donald and Pauline on November 2, 1930.  He retired to Hot Springs Village, AR and then moved with his wife Barb to San Diego, CA to be near his daughter, Pat, and her family.  Then on to his final residence with his daughter Helen and her family in Fox River Grove, IL and to be near his son Jeff and family in Arlington Heights.  Over the years Don’s work was in management in the meat and produce industries with JM Jones Company, Olean Wholesale Grocery, IGA Grocers and Fleming Foods.  Don enjoyed golf, fishing, and vacationing with his family.  Many wonderful memories were made over the years at Lake of the Ozarks.  He loved his family dearly and lead them well.  He will always be remembered for his strength, good work ethic and integrity.  He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus and served in various capacities in church and community activities.  He is now at rest and face-to-face with his Savior, Jesus Christ.

A memorial service will be at a future date in Danville, IL.
