Forrest Leon Haney, 71, of Kildeer, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at home surrounded by his family.

Forrest was born in Michigan City, Indiana on December 20, 1949, to Forrest Foy and Amelia E. (née Slamkowski) Haney. Forrest excelled in many facets of life. He was the starting point guard on his high school basketball team in Mt. Prospect, Illinois.  He received a degree in accounting from the University of Illinois and earned his MBA from Loyola University Chicago. He also served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army reserve. During his professional career, Forrest was a vice president executive for Jewel Foods Incorporated and later Kraft Food Service. As successful as he was in business, he was more successful in his family life. Forrest met his wife, Julie, in college while they were both working at Eisner’s grocery stores. They were married July 30,1977 and enjoyed almost 44 years of love and companionship. Together they had three children and six grandchildren who were the greatest joys of his life.

Forrest loved taking road trips across the US and Canada with his family and friends and spending time with his family at their lake house on Donnell Lake in Vandalia, Michigan. He also enjoyed attending the sports and activities of his children and grandchildren. In his retirement years, Forrest spent time visiting friends and family, working in his yard, and playing basketball with his friends at the YMCA.

Forrest was also a man of faith and derived great pleasure in helping others.  Forrest served many years as treasurer and financial advisor to his church as well as serving on multiple committees and participating in community outreach activities. He was a loyal friend who always took time to offer advice or lend a helping hand.

Forrest is survived by his loving wife, Julie (née Lottman) Haney; his children, Stephen (Jennifer) Haney of Geneva, Illinois; Lisa (Joel) McCormick of Elmwood, Illinois; and Mark (Olga) Haney of Chicago, Illinois, and his six grandchildren, Tyler and Kaylee Haney; Lily, Jane, and Leon McCormick; and Sasha Haney.
