Geraldine E. Blakely

Geraldine Elsie Blakely, age 90, of Crystal Lake and formerly of St. Charles and Maywood, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021.

Geraldine was born August 22, 1930 in Chicago. She graduated from Farragut High School and Wright Junior College in Chicago.  Gerry enjoyed the outdoors and traveling.  Gerry camped with her husband John and their family all over the US, including Alaska.  She also traveled in Europe, Australia and Canada.  She was a member of the Snowdrifters Ski Club, the Moose, and the Nighthawks.  Gerry raised her family in Maywood and St Charles.  She was a teacher’s aid which she loved.  She was an exceptional caregiver to her family members including her husband Johnston in recent years.

Geraldine is survived by her children, Johnston (Patty) Blakely, Roberta (Adrian) Kasper, and William (Nancy) Blakely; her grandchildren, Theresa, Tom, Alan, Richard, Ryan, Marissa and Christopher; and 4 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband of almost 70 years, Johnston and her parents Jerry and Elsie (Polivka) Dedic.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4:00 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176) Crystal Lake. Burial will be held the following day, Monday, May 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, Forest Park.
