Helen Koziol, 75, of Crystal Lake, IL was born on February 18, 1946, in Malawa, Poland to the late Charles and Bernice (Wilk) Philip. She passed away peacefully on December 1, 2021, surrounded by her family who adored her and will continue to cherish her memory forever.

Helen was the loving wife of Bruce for 51 years; beloved mother of Catherine (Garrin) Kay, Michael (Donna) Koziol; and cherished grandmother of Emma, Abigail, and Angelo “Will” Kay and Evelyn and Samantha Koziol. She is further survived by her brothers, Bruno (Louise) Philip, and Paul (Deborah) Philip.

In her early years, Helen worked for Continental Bank as an executive secretary to the president. She met Bruce at a wedding and ended up marrying her best friend on November 21, 1970. They were the embodiment of a loving marriage and just being around them made you smile.

After having children, Helen left the workplace and embraced the role as full time mother, which she adored. She went back to work after her children had grown and took on the role of executive secretary to multiple senior level businessmen at Motorola, Inc. where she made many lifelong friends.

Helen was an extremely talented artist, who’s many paintings decorated the family home. She was very involved with the church, schools, athletic programs, gardening, sewing, knitting, cooking and absolutely loved the outdoors. She enjoyed many trips near and far with family and friends throughout the years. One of her favorite activities was hosting family and friends for weekend meals and making traditional Polish food which was a real treat for everyone. Helen loved watching her children and grandchildren participate in various sports, plays, musicals, art shows, etc.

Those who knew Helen would describe her as loving, caring, and generous. Her deep faith in God was evident through her contagious and beautiful smile, kind eyes, and welcoming and loving spirit towards everyone she met.
